This photographic series comes to light as a visual research. It enquires into the nature of the surrounding areas of Weimar, a town mainly known for its historical culture and for being part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
The look, however, goes towards environments which are not part of the Heritage, since I am often drawn to anonymous places and inspired by their intrinsic interplays of lines and planes. Hence images started to come up overall without human presence, depicting what could usually be seen only as a background. Nevertheless that one background to me already represented the foreground: a scenography waiting for the actors.
But the journeys in those areas were indeed surrounded by actors: the people. Their curious yet doubtful eyes were often wondering about the nature of my photographic interest. I initially tried not to include them; but eventually their colorful presence triggered me to extend the project’s radius and justaxpose a vivid human side to those motionless views.
