DESTINY - FATE - FORTUNE (SoSe 2013)

This advanced photography class starts with a closer look at different philosophical postions on the idea of destiny, like Cicero, Seneca, Kirkegaard or Sartre to search for a potential relation between the decisive moment and destiny. Being in the right place at the right time to take the pefect photograph - that‘s destiny? Or is there a possibility to avoid and to ignore predetermined situations? And isn‘t the human being responsible for his own fate and therefore able to construct or to evoke a perfect moment? During this class we will find out photographic answers on these questions. Contemporary and historic positions and relevant aesthetic concerns in regards to our topic will be discussed.
